I don’t know a single kid out there that doesn’t like LEGO’s. In fact, my parents still have the LEGO’s from when my brother and I were little. My kids play with them now! Though, I have to say…we didn’t have nearly the amount of cool sets of LEGO’s that kids have now to choose from! I don’t think a birthday has gone by since my son turned four that he has not received a different LEGO set. So when we heard that the LEGO KidsFest was coming to Michigan, I knew we had to go.
So what exactly is LEGO KidsFest Michigan? Well it’s a GINORMOUS traveling LEGO expo that is coming to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi on October 12-14, 2012! There are a few different sessions to choose from:
- Friday October 12th from 4-8:30 p.m.
- Saturday October 13th from 9-1:30 p.m. OR 3-7:30 p.m.
- Sunday October 14th from 9-1:30 p.m. OR 3-7:30 p.m.
This expo will have:
- LEGO Model Gallery: 40 life-sized models made from LEGO bricks
- LEGO Master Builders: Live demonstrations and activities from the crew!
- Creation Nation: Build your very own creation to be added to a custom map of the U.S.
- Race Ramps: Build a car from LEGO bricks and race it down the ramp
- LEGO Games Arena: Place to play LEGO board games
- Construction Zones: Free build, play and display areas
- LEGO Duplo: An area set up for the younger LEGO fans!
- LEGO Retail and KidsFest Marketplace: Purchase LEGO merchandise and KidsFest goods.
- Brick Pile: A huge pile full of LEGO bricks for creative play and fun!
- Monochromatic Builds: Bricks of a single color to foster group creativity
- Brickscapes: Displays that combine lots of LEGO and Duplo sets
Doesn’t that sound awesome?
Have you ever wondered where the word “LEGO” came from? Well it is a contraction of two Danish words, “leg godt” which means “play well”. And that is exactly what kids have been doing for years! Shoot, 360 million tires are produced a year…which makes LEGO the largest producer of tires in the world!!
