Girls Day at the Mall

This morning, Dan and Zachary woke up and went golfing together.  Bella was pretty mad that she wasn’t able to go, but given the time they were going to be on the course, she was too young to go.  I think it’s hard for Bella to realize and accept that she is 2.5 years younger than her brother.  I think she often thinks she’s the same age as him (or older)!  I told her that she and I could get breakfast and go paint pottery together.  She started bawling her eyes out and told me that I don’t care about her and that I never play with her.  I was so taken aback, that I didn’t know what to say.

We talked and I asked her what she wanted to do and she told me she wanted to go to the mall and go shopping with me.  So I called up the pottery place, canceled our appointment and headed out to the mall.  The first thing we did was stop at the pet store and look at the puppies.  These cutie pies were our favorites:

IMG_1223After watching the puppies for awhile, we ate at her favorite place in the food court, Taco Bell.  You know why she likes it there so much?  Because she pretends the real name is Taco Bella!  Silly girl!  She’s funny when she eats Taco Bell.  She gets the same thing every time; has to put mild sauce on it; and any meat that drops out of her taco has to be put in her cup of cheese.

IMG_1224After lunch, the shopping began.  Now Bella is not usually one that likes to go shopping, so I was really surprised that she wanted to go to the mall instead of painting pottery (which she loves to do).  But boy did my daughter surprise me.  We spent 4 hours at the mall and that child shopped until she literally dropped!  Her style of clothing that she liked really surprised me.  If you combine pastel, preppy and sparkles…that’s Bella.  She was hell bent on finding a dress.  She said she wanted to wear it on “Mudders Day”.  Here are some of the dresses she tried on:

PicMonkey CollageWe ended up not getting a dress because she saw a Little Mermaid nightgown that she just “had to have”!  Out of those four dresses, guess which one was her favorite…the yellow one.  She said it looked “rich”.  I personally liked that yellow dress in the teal color, but she insisted that “golden” meant rich.

Our day wasn’t over yet.  We had one final stop.  On our way, we stopped at the nail salon and I let her get a kiddie manicure.  She was beaming from ear to ear.

IMG_1231I had a really great day with her.  I told her that we had to do this a little more often and she just smiled at me.  I have to admit, it broke my heart that she thought I didn’t care about her.  I do the best I can with both kids.  Unfortunately Zachary takes up a lot of my time with all the extra help he needs with his school work.  There are sometimes after school that I don’t talk to Bella hardly at all.  It’s not on purpose, but like I said, he needs a lot of extra help.  But that’s going to change.  I need to figure out how to divide my time better and more equally.

What are some things you do, one on one, with your daughter?

Looks like you guys had a blast. Personally, I agree with her, that yellow dress is adorable on her!
With two older boys my daughter doesnt get much time with me, mostly because my middle son is some what of the attention hog. But on the rare occasion we get girl time, she LOVES thrifting with me. Theres nothing more fun than finding a good bargain!

I like the yellow dress the best, too! What a great day to spend with your daughter. Mine’s ALWAYS happy when I paint her nails. It is really hard to divide your time between kids. I’m sure you’re doing great!

Aww, what a nice day out you two had! The “Taco Bella” thing cracked me up. What a little fashionista she is! At her age, I would have gone for the Little Mermaid PJs too, so you can tell her I approve of her fashion choice, haha! I was OBSESSED with the Little Mermaid when I was a kid!

Taco Bella was rockin’ all those dresses. My baby girl gets excited when I pull out her Dora books. I imagine she’ll want to head to the mall in a few years. I better start saving my pennies now.

What fun. I do mother/daughter days with my daughter whenever I can and I know that time is so much fun. Looks like you had a blast! You should certainly make plans to do this once a month or at least often, Great times, beautiful pictures.

    She is adorable!

Since my daughter is just 10 months old, I haven’t really had any “girls day” with her, but I’m looking forward to them when she gets older! 🙂

She is just darling! My oldest is only six, so we haven’t done a ton of one on one stuff, but I told her for her next birthday I’ll take her to do mani/pedi’s together!
