Fun Day at the Zoo!

One of my most favorite places to go is the zoo.  I love seeing the animals and walking around.  This past Friday, I took the kids to the Detroit Zoo with my sister in-law and my niece and nephew.  The kids were really looking forward to it and I was just glad to be doing something this summer.  With Zack having summer school in June and July and football starting in August, we really aren’t left with much time to do much of anything.

I was super excited once we got inside because the woman that sells tickets to feed the giraffe was still standing at the front entrance!  So of course I purchased a ticket for us to feed the giraffes later that day.  I thought for sure Bella would LOVE to feed the giraffe.  Shoot, I was excited to feed the giraffe!  Of all the times I’ve been to the zoo, I’ve never really see a giraffe up close.  They truly are a gorgeous animal!

Unfortunately, Bella freaked out and would not feed the giraffe.  I’m kind of sad for her.  I think she would have really liked it.  Sure it was a tad gross…they just stick this long black tongue out at you and grab the leaf from your hand, but as much as she loves animals, I really do think she would have liked it.  Zack…he threw the leaf at me and said there was no way he was going to feed it!  So I did it and I so badly wanted to pet the giraffe, but you’re not allowed to.

It was a hot, but very fun day!  I can’t wait to go back!  But I’m definitely taking a cooler this time with food.  My goodness…I spent a lot on not a lot of food.  Why do places have to do this?  Why do they have to raise the price so ridiculously high…and give you stale potato chips while their at it?

What’s your favorite animal at the zoo?

I can’t even tell you how many times we’ve taken our kids to the zoo. It’s always THE hottest day of the year too. But no matter what, I have to see the giraffes. They are easily my favorite!

What a super fun day. We have a zoo very near us and plan to get a membership next year so we can take more kids and not cost an arm and a leg.
