Last winter was the WORST winter I have ever had.  I got sick two days after Thanksgiving and from that moment on, I was sick off and on (more on than off) until mid-March.  It as horrible.  At the very end, the only way to get rid of my Strep Throat was a prescription for an antibiotic that they give patients with HIV.  It literally made me sick for 10 days straight.

This winter…I’m armed with Robitussin!  Just in case the kids or I get sick!

About Robitussin Cold & Cough

What does this product do?

Controls coughs for up to 8 hours, plus relieves runny nose, itchy eyes and sneezing.

Why These Ingredients?

To keep kids at school and having fun.  Robitussin Children’s combines an antihistamine to curb itchy throat and sneezing and a cough suppressant for long-lasing relief.

What are the Benefits of a Liquid Cough Syrup?

The nature of cough syrup provides a soothing action.  The thickness of the liquid helps coat the throat, while the active ingredients suppresses the cough.

How is it used?

Parents should give children ages 6-11 years old 10 ml every 6 hours.  Adults and children ages 12 years and older should take 20 ml every 6 hours.

Cold and Flu Facts

  • The common cold is a leading cause of doctor visits, with over 100 million visits paid to the doctor each year.  It also causes 22 million missed days from school, as well as 20 million lost work days in the United States annually.
  • At the peak of the 2012-2013 cold and flu season, nearly 50 million adults and children experienced cold and flu symptoms — that’s six times greater than the population of NYC! Most adults have 2-4 colds per year, while children average 6-10 colds annually.  On average, 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu annually.
  • Flu is caused by influenza viruses that infect the throat, nose and lungs.  Common colds can be caused by over 200 different viruses.

What You Need to Know about Coughs

  • Up to 50% of people who have a cold will develop a cough.  Prolonged coughing can cause unpleasant side effects, such as chest pain, exhaustion, light-headedness, and interference with socializing and work.
  • At the peak of the 2012-2013 cold and flu season, over 47 million adults and children experienced cough symptoms — that’s more than the total population of the state of California.
  • One cause of cough is a reaction to an increase in mucus production in the airways.  Coughing is how the body expels excess mucus from the airways and lungs.

Here’s hoping that my family and I stay healthy this winter and I hope your family does too!!  But if not, try Robitussin!  It’s the medication that both my doctor and the pharmacist recommends!!

Have you tried Robitussin?  What do you think?

I actually swear by Robintussin. It’s the only thing that works on my 9-year-old’s cough and lets her sleep at night (when it gets worse).
