Christmas Break is almost here and that means our kids will be home for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!  On one hand, I’m excited to have the kids home for two weeks…no structured schedule, sleeping in, doing fun things; but on the other hand, I’m panicking.  With the way my two have been arguing with each other, I think they are just giving me a preview of what their break will look like!

What in the world are we going to do for two weeks?  Well lucky for you, I’ve come up with some pretty good ideas, if I don’t say so myself!  And yes, I am going to share them with you!  I’m nice like that!

Cheap Things to do Over Christmas Break!

*This is a partnered post and may contain affiliate links. All awesome ideas, stories and opinions are 100% my own, as always!
  1. Gingerbread house competition – Divide up into two teams. You could do boys against girls or however you choose to break up and go at it.  See which team can make the best or most creative Gingerbread house.  Be sure to have a neutral party, like grandma, judge.  I think this year we will be making a Zombie house!
  2. Decorate Cookies for Santa – I cheat with this.  I love sugar cookies, but I don’t like making them.  So instead I go to Gordon Foods and purchase their sugar cookies that are already cut out…you just have to stick them in the oven and bake them.  Perfect cut-out sugar cookies EVERY TIME!
  3. Make your own LEGO Minifigure card – We have huge LEGOchristmas break fans in our house, so when I found a website where the kids could make their own holiday card, I had to do this with them!
  4. Enter the Twinkie Minion Makeover contest -Everyone, well accept my kids, love Twinkies and they love Despicable Me.  Right now there is a giveaway going on with some pretty awesome prizes!  All you need to do is minionize your Twinkie and upload a picture!
  5. Adult Games – It’s fun to do things with the kids, but sometimes adults need a little adult fun.  One thing I like to do is go play Bingo.  Yes I am the youngest there by like 30 years, but it’s a lot of fun.  If you aren’t able to get a sitter and go to an actual Bingo place, you can play online at sites like www.butlersbingo.com.
  6. Snow Games – I don’t know where you live, but here we are expecting 6 inches of snow TONIGHT (blah), but snow does provide some free entertainment.  So bundle everyone up and head out and have a good old fashioned snow ball fight or build an igloo.  I’ve always wanted to build and igloo!

So there are some ideas that don’t have to cost you very much money at all.  Do you have any ideas to add to my list?  Leave me a comment with your idea!  I’d love to make a huge list of things so we don’t get bored this Christmas break!!
