In 8 days I leave for my very first cruise ever! I am beyond excited…I think you know this, since I’ve talked about it a bunch of times! So imagine my upset when I wake up Monday morning and I know I have a UTI. Talk about bad timing. Not only are UTI’s not fun to deal with (who likes to pee repeatedly all day long?), but I do not want to be on antibiotics this close to my trip. A friend had been telling me about Grapefruit Seed Extract and all the wonderful benefits. Could that help me with my UTI?

What is Grapefruit Seed Extract?

So, my friend Lynsey had been telling me about Grapefruit Seed Extract (I like this oneGrapefruit Seed Extract). Since my I was still waiting on a call back from my doctors office, I headed up to my local health food store and picked up the Grapefruit Seed Extract (NOT Grape Seed Extract…don’t get them confused)! In my mind, I had nothing to lose. While I was out, the doctors called me back and said that they couldn’t see me until the next day. Since I didn’t have time for an urgent care visit, I took my Grapefruit Seed Extract according to the directions on the back and crossed my fingers.

 Did It Work?

The next morning, I woke up with zero UTI symptoms. I was stunned! Without a shadow of a doubt, I knew I had a UTI. You see, when I was pregnant with my daughter, due to the way she was laying in utero, she caused me to have a UTI each and every month (but one) for the entire pregnancy. So if there is one thing I can confidently diagnose myself with, it’s a UTI! Since I already had an appointment and canceling the day of would cost me a $35 fee, which was more than my copay, I went to the appointment.

The first words out of the doctors mouth when she walked in was “why did you think you had a UTI?”. I went through my symptoms and then told her that I started taking Grapefruit Seed Extract yesterday. I half expected her to poo poo the Grapefruit Seed Extract, but she didn’t! She actually told me that two other patients had told her about this stuff this month!

So…did it work?!? It appears, that it did indeed work for me! My urine sample showed trace amounts of white blood cells which she said shows her that I did have an infection, but I no longer had anything worth taking an antibiotic for at all! She actually told me to continue taking the Grapefruit Seed Extract! Between this and my love for Apple Cider Vinegar, I’m good to go!

Pick up your Grapefruit Seed Extract on Amazon and have it delivered directly to your door! The prices are really good right now. If you prefer to just add a few drops to a drink, Amazon also offers a liquid form!

Definitely talk to your doctor about it, but mine told me that Grapefruit Seed Extract is great to take daily. She read studies on how it can help boost the immune system.

We’ve used the liquid one you shared a picture of above for when we were sick. I didn’t know about this use. I am happy you shared this!

This is great to know! I always drink cranberry juice for UTIs but dont’ always have it in the house. This would be so much more convenient.
