If you have a 4th grader, your child is probably working on their final project for the year…their Mini-Society project. In my sons class, they have the option of working alone or partnering up. They then need to “buy” their space for their store and start brainstorming about what they wanted to make and sell. Each person is required to make 100 items for their store. If they are partnered up, they are required to make 175-200 items. Below I have outlined my son and his partners idea for their “Mini-Society” project.

Elementary School Mini-Society Project

Product

  • Level Up Game, using stress balls

Supplies Needed

  • Balloons
  • Flour
  • Funnels
  • Spoons for each person
  • Containers to put flour in

Instructions for Making the Stress Balls

  1. Open the flour and pour it into the individual containers.
  2. Take a balloon and place it over the end of the funnel.
  3. Using a spoon, scoop a little bit of flour into the funnel and tap the side of the funnel so the flour will go into the balloon. Remember, less is more. My son put WAY too much flour into the funnel and it took him a long time to fill the balloon.
  4. Once the balloon is full (make sure you don’t have flour in the tube part of the balloon…it will spray out into your face…trust me!), tie a knot and move on to the next one!

Pro tip…Pick up these CHEAP plastic funnels. It will make it much easier getting the flour in the balloon!

Directions for Playing “Level-Up”

**In order to play, each player will need at least one stress ball each and two coins**

  1. Each stress ball starts out with 100 points.
  2. Decide how many stress balls you and your opponent will battle with. You will need to have the same amount.
  3. Figure out who is player 1 and who is player 2 by flipping a coin.
  4. Choose an active stress ball and take turns.
  5. Player 1 flips their coin (they are the attacker). If they get heads, player 2 will have a chance to defend by flipping their coin.
    1. Heads= successful attack or block.
    2. Tails= failed attack or block.
  6. If player 1 is successful (i.e. attacker flips heads and the defender flips tails), then player 2 subtracts 10 points from their score.
  7. If player 1 is unsuccessful (i.e. attacker flips tails), then player 2 gets a chance to flip heads. If successful, player 1 subtracts 5 points from their score.
  8. It is now player 2’s turn. Repeat rules 5 through 7 until one player is all out of points.

**If playing with more than one stress ball, each player will have ONE opportunity during the game to switch out their stress balls. You can only do this once per game. The new stress ball will start back with 100 points**
