One of my favorite types of books to read (besides the Alex Cross series by James Patterson) is non-fiction books about different people’s lives. I especially like to read about people or types of people that live a life that is so very different from the type of life I live or will ever live. So when I was given the opportunity to read about Hillary Clinton, I said sure! I’ll never be a politician; I’ll never live in the White House; why not read about it?!?
The book by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes is very well written. I will admit, I am not all that into politics and quite honestly, when people start talking politics, I tune them out, so I was a little concerned about what I would think of this book. However, the storytelling in this book was superb and it really did keep me interested. I was interested more from an outside looking in type perspective than I was from the whole politic side of things and where my beliefs lay in regards to those beliefs of Hillary Clinton.
I found it interesting to read about Bill Clinton’s role in trying to avenge the unfairness he felt his wife endured as it relates to the 2008 Democratic Primary defeat she suffered. I know the whole joke about how to tell if a politician is lying, but it was neat to see in the inside and see how the Clinton’s felt when other politician’s lied to them about backing Hillary for the Democratic Primary.
Overall, I would recommend this book for the sole reason that I found it interesting. It has nothing to do with her political affiliation or anything like that. I just found the entire story interesting and, despite the size of the book, a quick read!
