Books make great gifts. This is why they are on the holiday gift guide. I remember getting books as a kid or going to the library and checking out a huge stack of books…reading was something I very much enjoyed doing and something, as I started having kids, I hoped my own kids would enjoy doing. And thankfully, they do enjoy reading a lot! Bella tends to go towards non-fiction books, especially those having to do with reptiles. Zack, on the other hand, likes graphic novels. He likes the pictures!

Must have books
If you are like me and like to give books for the holidays, here are a few book ideas you can give:
Peanuts: Be Joyful: Peanuts Wisdom to Carry You Through – this book by Charles M. Schulz is a cute little book that is a perfect stocking stuffer, gift for a teacher, etc. The book has something you should “be” on one page, like Be Hopeful and on the other page you have a peanuts quote. For example, on the Be Hopeful page, the quote says:
Lucy: I just noticed something about this room.
Schroeder: What’s that?
Lucy: There’s an appalling lack of mistletoe.
The book retails for about $7.95.
My Favorites
Alvin and the Chipmunks: It’s Show Time!: With Sound and Music
One of my absolute favorite cartoons as a kid was Alvin and the Chipmunks. When my kids got into the show, I was secretly excited. It cracked me up to see them laughing at all the different antics. The Alvin and the Chipmunks: It’s Show Time! book by Ross Bagdasarian and Janice Karman is about Alvin, Simon and Theodore putting on a show to help support he local animal shelter. The fun part (besides the actual story!) is that there are 8 interactive sounds that help bring the story to life.
This book retails for $17.95
Frank! a cute story by Connah Brecon, is about a little bear that is always late for school. So late that on the first day, he arrived AFTER everyone had already gone home for the day! With cute illustrations, an adventurous story and easy to read words, this is a book your kid will be sure to love!
This book retails for $16.95.
