When my kids were young, I wanted a minivan really bad. My son was signed up for soccer and I thought I had to have a minivan to be an authentic “soccer mom”. I also really wanted to have a car with sliding doors! But at the time, a minivan was not in the cards. Now that my kids are older, I haven’t really given a minivan another thought…until I drove the 2015 Mazda5 Grand Touring.
**I was given the opportunity to test drive the 2015 Mazda 5 Grand Touring for one week. Unfortunately I had to give it back!**
The second I saw the car, I was shocked. It was a mini-minivan! However, the Mazda5 Grand Touring, despite its smaller size, it has a lot to offer! If you ask my kids, they would tell you that their favorite part is the third row seat. While I like the option of being able to take more people in my car, having that third row makes the trunk pretty much non-existent.
With the third row up, I was able to fit our chairs for the soccer games and an umbrella. There really wasn’t room for anything else. However, with that third row down, I could fit a ton of stuff in there!
A few other great features:
- Storage inside the middle row seats
- Center console with up holders between the middle two seats
- The center console between the middle rows can be stored inside one of the seats to allow easy access to the back.

The Mazda5 Grand Touring rides similar to an SUV, but it is compact and has great gas mileage like a car. In fact, this car gets about 21 MPG city and 28 MPG highway!
And finally, my absolute favorite thing is the fact that every time you turn the car on, it says “hello” and every time you turn it off, it says “goodbye”!
