Do you recycle? I will admit, I am not the greatest when it comes to recycling. I’ll do good for a bit and then slack off. One area that I never really think about when it comes to recycling is the bathroom. There are so many products that can be recycled and they just get tossed in the trash. I am awesome at returning my pop/beer bottles! Though, I will admit, I am the weirdo wearing latex gloves while I shove the bottles in the machine at the grocery store. People stare at me with the gloves on, but I end up with the last laugh because while they are cursing up a storm because the hand sanitizer is empty.

Unilever knows that there are people like me that are less than stellar when it comes to recycling and that there are people that are amazing at recycling, but forget about their bathroom products. So they launched a new campaign called “Rinse. Recycle. Reimagine” This new program is a partnership with Keep America Beautiful and the Ad Council.

It has been designed to educate people about recycling in the bathroom, inspire them to reimagine what empty bathroom products could become through recycling, and ultimately make a small change that holds big potential to positively impact the environment.

Here are a few facts from an online survey, Unilever Bathroom Recycling Index, that was conducted by KRC Research:

FACT – 42% of American’s claim they don’t recycle because they aren’t sure an item is eligible for recycling and 27% of American’s aren’t convinced their items can actually become something new.

FACT – 1 in 5 American’s wouldn’t walk across their home to recycle a bath or beauty bottle.

FACT – 37% of men reported to always recycling their empty bath and beauty bottles.

FACT – Parents are more likely to recycle their bathroom products than non-parents.

The “Rinse. Recycle. Reimagine” program is part of the Unilever Sustainability plan. The goals for this program is to increase its positive social impact all while reducing its environmental impact. Please join Unilever in creating a Bright Future!

What a great initiative! I can always do better with recycling, especially in the bathroom. N owe that I am making more and more of my own beauty products I am reusing all of my glass containers. My 8 year old is going to need to help me come uo with a creative way to recycle all of the plastic tubes and bottles.
