I am a huge fan of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. They are quick and easy reads that always seem to put you in a good mood. Above all, you are able to relate to the book. For instance, personal favorite book is Chicken Soup for the Soul – The Cat did What? When I was asked to check out the Chicken Soup for the Soul – Thanks to My Mom book, it was a no brainer!

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. Do you know what you are getting your mom yet? We are going to breakfast with my mother in-law. In addition to breakfast, we will be having dinner with my mom. As for gifts, I don’t know. I used to find the weirdest plant ever and give that to my mom. One year, I wanted to get her one that had chili peppers hanging from it! But I don’t know what we are getting this year. One idea is the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom book.

About the Book

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom is filled with 101 stories about gratitude, love and lessons. The introduction story is written by country music star, Jo Dee Messina. In this book you can find the following chapters:

  • Great Role Models
  • Rising to the Challenge
  • Maternal Mischief
  • Love and Acceptance
  • The Best Cheerleaders
  • The Wisdom of Mothers
  • Mom Was Right
  • My Mother the Teacher
  • The Other Moms in Our Lives

My absolute favorite story in the entire book was the one title, Moms Cuss Jar. You can imagine what the story was about, but what I liked was how the kids thought they got the upper hand by misbehaving more to cause mom to swear more. However, in reality, she had the upper hand when she told them that if they did something to cause her to swear, she got to take money out of the jar! So, not only did mom stop swearing all the time, the kids also started behaving better.

In short, this book would make a great gift for mom on Mother’s Day.
