When I started following a gluten free lifestyle, it wasn’t because I was diagnosed with food allergies, but because I started doing some reading on different things I was experiencing and one of the suggestions was to eliminate gluten. Right away I was able to see that I felt better when I did not consume gluten. I have my slip ups, but…for the most part… I am doing a pretty good job eating gluten free. And believe me, I can tell right away when I’ve slipped up or if I wasn’t paying attention.
One thing I noticed was how much stuff gluten was in. It’s crazy. One of my guilty pleasures is candy. I love it. Too much. I honestly never thought to look at the candy I was eating. Licorice is my favorite, but wouldn’t you know, it contains gluten. I ran across a company that sells gluten free candy, The Lovely Candy Co., and I knew I had to try their candy!

My Thoughts
The licorice was good, but it did have a different flavor to it. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was exactly, but I’m also used to eating licorice that is filled with artificial ingredients so this could very well be what licorice tastes like and I just don’t know it! At any rate, I would most definitely have it again! The seat salt caramels were to die for. I could have sat and ate that entire bag while watching TV. It was that good!
Would I change anything? About the candy…no. With the website, my only suggestion would be to show an image of the label that lists the ingredients. I know that when my daughter dealt with food allergies (she outgrew them, thankfully), it always made me feel more comfortable when I could see the label and read the ingredients too.
One last plus…the bags are resealable. That was a very smart decision, in my opinion!
