Do you ever feel like your kids will eat anything and everything BUT a fruit or vegetable? When mine were younger, they devoured fruits. I would come home from the fruit market with a bunch of plums, grapes, strawberries, etc and by the next day it looked like I never went to the store. Now at 9 and 11, all they seem to want is junk food. Drives me crazy. However, I will say, since starting 6th grade, my son has been forced to eat fruits and vegetables again if he wants to have a mid-morning snack (and he does…the kid is ALWAYS eating). Being that it’s winter, it’s harder to get really good fruit. So it’s been a lot of apples and bananas and I can tell he’s getting sick of them. And then we tried Crunchies Freeze Dried Fruit snacks!!

*I received the following products for the purpose of this post. All opinions are mine (and my sons).*

About Crunchies Freeze Dried Fruits

Just like the name suggests, Crunchies uses a freeze drying method that allows the fresh fruit to retain its nutritional value and also enhancing the shelf life. But that’s not all! It also creates that crunch we are always looking for with a snack! They are able to accomplish this by immediately freezing fresh fruits and then putting it under a low-pressure drying process which removes the frozen water as steam….completely bypassing the liquid state.

“We are simplifying the lives of active, health-conscious shoppers by offering a snack that’s hands-down the best in terms of ingredients, nutrition, taste and convenience, ” says Scott Jacobson, president and CEO of Crunchies Natural Food Company. “Our hope is that, by giving people a new way to enjoy pure fruit, we can help them make better choices for themselves and their families.”

Upon opening the bag, I couldn’t help but notice how much it smelled like cutting into a fresh piece of fruit. I decided to try the pineapple first. Here’s what it looks like:

Now I will admit, I was a bit nervous to try it. I have weird issues with food. If something doesn’t look the way it should look (in my mind) then I have a hard time with that. For example, yellow tomatoes. Tomatoes are red…yellow ones creep me out. Yes, I realize that is very strange! But, for the purpose of this post, I popped that piece of pineapple in my mouth and let me tell you, it was really good! It tasted exactly like pineapple, but crunchy. My son, who isn’t a huge fan of pineapple, liked it too!

Crunchies Freeze Dried Fruits come in resealable pouches, as well as, single-serve packs. They contain:

  • No added sugar
  • No artificial flavors or colors
  • Are Non-GMO
  • Gluten Free
  • Vegan
  • Kosher and Halal Certified

They come in these delicious fruits:

  • Strawberries

  • Cinnamon Apples
  • Strawberry Banana
  • Mixed Fruit

The ONLY one my son did not care for is the Cinnamon Apples. He said it was too strong of a cinnamon taste. Other than that, he really enjoyed them and asked me to give them to him for snack at school!

Which Crunchies Freeze Dried Fruits are you most looking forward to trying?
