This probably makes me seem a bit odd, but I like doing laundry. I don’t care for putting it away, but washing it and folding it…doesn’t really bother me. Plus, it’s an excuse to sit in front of the TV and binge watch my favorite show every so often! Not to mention, my husband and kids are forever leaving stuff in the pockets so I fill my Finders Keepers Jar quickly! One thing I like to do is buy different laundry detergents each time. I like to try different brands and the different scents out there. One brand I am really liking right now is the Member’s Mark® Ultimate Clean Liquid Laundry Cleaner at Sam’s Club! Not only is the price right for what I like to spend on these particular type of product, but it works in any temperature setting and I like to wash my clothes on cold (unless it’s towels and sheets…I wash those on hot).

Both of my kids play sports. My son plays lacrosse and my daughter plays soccer. As you can imagine, especially this time of year, they get pretty darn dirty. My daughters soccer uniform has white shorts. White. I know. It’s crazy! So when I look for a laundry detergent, I want something that I know will get their uniforms clean. With the Member’s Mark Ultimate Clean Liquid Laundry Detergent, I know that this laundry detergent will give it it’s best shot! Using the patented Ultimate Clean Technology, this detergent will lock on stains and lift them out. Just what I need it to do! My clothes and my whites are brighter with a fresh scent smell! If you are like me and you like to try out other scents, you can also get the Member’s Mark Ultimate Clean Liquid Laundry Detergent in Paradise Splash scent! I can’t wait to try that one out!

I don’t know about your husband and kids, but mine are forever leaving stuff in their pockets. I can’t tell you how much loose change I find at the bottom of the washing machine. I normally have no idea who’s pocket it came out of and then…one day…it hit me. My family is leaving me a tip! I wanted to put something cute by my washing machine to collect my tips in. Sure I could have used any old mason jar, but then I came up with this “Finders Keepers” sign that not only looks good in my laundry room, but it is SUPER easy to make. Trust me…I am so not a crafty person!

How to Make the Finders Keepers Jar

Materials

  • One piece of wood (I found mine for very cheap at Hobby Lobby)
  • One small sign (also found at Hobby Lobby)
  • Chalk Pen
  • 2 small screws
  • Small dowel rod
  • Small metal bucket (also found at Hobby Lobby)

Directions

Step One: Using a pencil, mark where you want your sign and metal bucket to go.

Step Two: Using the appropriate size drill bit for the dowel rod that you purchased, drill a small hole to place the dowel rod in. Please note, you may have to cut the dowel rod to the size that you want. It just depends on what you have available. We had a really long one at home. You can use a little bit of wood glue to glue the dowel rod in, if you would like. I did not.

Step Three: Attach the bucket with your small screw. Piece of advice, using your fingers, press the screw into the bucket to make a tiny indent FIRST! Trust me, it makes it much easier to then use the drill. Do the same to attach your sign.

Step Four: Using your chalk pen, write “Finders Keepers” on the sign and you are completely finished with your Finders Keepers Jar!!

All in all, this project took, at most, 30 minutes to complete! Isn’t it cute?!? I think it looks good on the laundry room shelf!!

What is the craziest thing or amount of money you’ve found at the bottom of your washing machine that you could put in your Finders Keepers Jar?

I love this idea! You either clean out your own pockets or it’s mine 🙂

Adorable idea! We’re constantly losing stuff in the wash to have something to keep all the findings would be fun.

Fun idea! And why are sports uniforms white?! I have the same issue with my son’s football uniform, but it’s great finding a detergent that can handle the tough stains. Thanks for sharing! #client

Not understanding what you do with the dowel. Can’t see it on the finished product.
