When Covid started back in March, our daughter approached us about getting a puppy. In fact, she didn’t just talk to us about it, she put together a Powerpoint presentation about why we needed a puppy. We said no at first, but after months of her asking, and providing us with yet another Powerpoint presentation, we gave in. In just four short weeks (or long when you add in waking up at 3 am to go outside), she has become a huge part of our family. So of course, we want to spoil her at Christmas. These are the best puppy Christmas gift ideas.

First, I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family…Indie! Indie is a standard Goldendoodle. We’ve had her for about four weeks. She is probably the smartest dog I have ever owned. In just 24 hours of her being in our home, we were able to teach her to ring the bells hanging on our doorwall to tell us when she wants to go outside! These are the bells we bought. I highly recommend them!

Puppy Christmas Gift Ideas
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to spoil this puppy for Christmas. Sure we have a cat and we buy her gifts, but let’s be real, other than the catnip ball we got her last year, she never touches anything we buy her. This dog though, she plays with all of her toys, all of the time. Plus, since we are still in the process of training her, we can shove bags of her training treats in her stocking with a couple tennis balls (her favorite) and maybe one of those gourmet looking dog cookies! How fun is that?!? Check out my favorite puppy Christmas gift ideas!
Puppy Training Treats
I’m pretty picky on what I feed Indie. Goldendoodles, for whatever reason, tend to be allergic to chicken. Of course, I couldn’t get a puppy without some sort of allergy. The food she was on was chicken. She was constantly scratching at her back legs. Once we switched her food and treats to chicken free, she pretty much stopped scratching and biting her legs! These are our favorite treats and training treats:
Zuke’s Crunchy Naturals Training Dog Treats Baked With Peanut Butter and Berries – 12 oz. BagZuke’s Puppy Naturals Puppy Treats Lamb and Chickpea Recipe – 5 oz. BagZuke’s Mini Naturals Training Dog Treats Rabbit Recipe – 16 Oz. BagZuke’s, Mini Naturals Dog Treats, Peanut Butter, 6 oz
Indie absolutely LOVES the Zuke’s rabbit flavored treats! Another thing I buy is a big box of Cheerio’s. While the dog treats are good (and needed), when we are training constantly, I use both the treats and the Cheerio’s. Saves me a little money!
The Must Have Dog Toys!
I was not a parent that spoiled my children when they were babies. Maybe it was because we were in a different place, financially 15 years ago, or what, but the puppy…the puppy gets all the things! The nice thing is, so far, Indie is gentle with her toys. She plays with them, chews on them, but doesn’t destroy them. Yet. I’m sure it’s coming! Maybe not. Maybe we will get lucky! Anyway, here are the best puppy toys that make great stocking stuffers and gifts for your furry friend!

The toys with no stuffing are Indie’s absolute favorite. She has one that has a crinkle material in the base of the animal and she just loves it. So much so, that we bought another one and put it up, just in case this one got destroyed. Kind of like you did with little kids and their favorite blanket or stuffed animal!
Pet Stockings
You absolutely cannot forget the pet stocking! These are my absolute favorite. I haven’t chosen one yet, mainly because I want to buy us new stockings, so I am waiting to see if I find stockings for us, that may match the puppy’s!
