For Christmas, my husband and kids got me something I have wanted for years! They got me a Cricut Maker! One of my favorite things to wear are t-shirts and hoodies. When I learned what a Cricut could do, I have wanted one ever since. Why buy a severely marked up t-shirt when I can make it myself?! Every sarcastic thought I have is going on a hoodie, t-shirt, or mug!

What is the Cricut Maker?
Very simply put, the Cricut can be used to cut paper, vinyl, and iron on vinyl. However, with the Cricut Maker, you can cut 300+ materials from paper, vinyl, wood, to leather. The amount of projects you can do with this machine is amazing! Like I said earlier, I really wanted to get a Cricut to make t-shirts and hoodies! My husband is excited to try out the embossing tools and do something with leather!
How Easy is It?
So far, I have only made images to iron on t-shirt and hoodies. It was pretty easy. Before getting a Cricut Maker, I thought I would hate the weeding (removing the vinyl from the image)…but I actually really liked sitting there weeding the image! The weeding is the hardest part. Once that was done, I just needed to line it up on the shirt and use the heat press! There are a lot of sites online to get t-shirts and hoodies at a good price. Our local Sam’s Club had some hoodies for roughly $12. They are really nice quality and super comfortable. If you have a Sam’s Club membership, definitely check them out.

Cricut Maker Tips
While I am in no way an expert (yet) to be able to give you a lot of different tips, I can give you my number one tip. Search Etsy for SVG files! You use those files to upload into the Cricut Design Space and print on the machine. They are super inexpensive and easy to use! I can’t wait until Christmas. The kids (and the hubs) will be getting custom Christmas shirts this year! I can’t wait! I’m thinking they will be either Elf (the movie) themed or National Lampoons Christmas Vacation themed! I will definitely share what I make. Right now I am sharing everything I make on my Instagram page. Follow me to see what I make!
Heat Press or the Cricut Easy Press?
Right now I am borrowing a Cricut Easy Press to try out. While it is extremely easy to use, I am leaning towards getting a 15×15 Heat Press on Amazon. My husband is a big guy. When I made him his Super Bowl t-shirt, it was a little difficult with the Cricut Easy Press because I had to do it in sections. If I had the 15×15 heat press, I would have been able to do it all at one time. The Cricut Easy Press is definitely more convenient, space wise!
