I have a friend who told me, after finding out I was diabetic, that “being told you are diabetic is probably the worst thing in the world“.  And I have to admit, 2 months ago, I would have agreed with her.  Shoot, look back at some of my posts about being diabetic and I did say it was the worst thing ever.  But now that I have a pretty firm grasp on things…it’s not all that bad.  I’ve always said that I have a hard time losing weight because I have absolutely no will power.  Well…now…I have that will power.

One of the things that I absolutely cannot give up is diet pop.  To me…it’s the last thing I have left that I enjoy and while I know it’s not the greatest for me, it’s not bad for my diabetes.  However, I was approached to try out an all natural soda called Zevia and I have to admit…I was intrigued.  You see, this pop is sweetened with stevia…which if you are not sure what stevia is…it’s a leafy herb from South America.

Zevia is available in all the favorite flavors:

  • Cola
  • Ginger Root Beer
  • Dr. Zevia
  • Black Cherry
  • Ginger Ale
  • Lemon Lime Twist
  • Orange
  • Grape
  • Mountain Zevia
  • Grapefruit Citrus
  • Caffeine Free Cola
  • Cream Soda

In the mail I received Grapefruit Citrus, Lemon Lime Twist, Mountain Zevia and Cola.  I was not a fan of Cola and Mountain Zevia…to me they were not sweet enough.  However, my husband LOVED them.  He is not a huge pop drinker…mainly because he can’t stand how sweet pop is, so Cola flavored Zevia and Mountain Zevia were right up his alley.  I did like the Grapefruit Citrus and Lemon Lime Twist.

This is a nice alternative for people with (or without) diabetes that are looking for a pop alternative free of sugar, calories and artificial sweeteners. Check it out on Amazon for really great prices and have it delivered to your door!

I received 4 cans to try for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are mine.  You may have a different opinion.

Zevia Cola and Zevia Root Beer are OK but the lemon lime twist and the mountain zevia are just horrible — I classify them as undrinkable. They have a very concentrated flavor of artificial flavoring that should probably be diluted a lot and don’t have much of a sweet taste.

They may market this as an all natural soda but it taste like chemicals to me.

one thing i notice about drinking regular diet soda is my nose is completely clogged up after eating food and have to blow after every couple bites when drinking diet soda. and zivia never once took my clinex box to the dinner table and nose was clear. and noticed my weight is 131 pounds will see what i weigh tomorrow while drinking zivia.
