New Years Eve "Whacking Off"

No it’s not what you’re thinking! I mean it’s kind of what you’re thinking, but it’s not at the same time. Just keep reading. This is not a trashing smut post.

So for the first time since having children, Dan and I had a New Years Eve minus the kids! My awesome inlaws took them for the night and had a sleepover party with them! Dan and I decided to use a gift card for Flemmings that we had gotten last year at Christmas. Neither of us had ever been to Flemmings before. Apparently the place has like really good beef and whatnot. Which I will say, my filet was good, but totally not worth the $37 dollars it cost. Especially since it didn’t come with any side dishes AT ALL. Well I take that back. It came with a mini size bread thing that once we were finished with the bread, they took it away, didn’t even ask us if we wanted more. How rude! I was stunned that side items were a la cart. Shoot couldn’t they throw in a side dish or two for that price? My martini, which was really good by the way, was $10. Just a tad too rich for my blood, but like I said, we had a gift card so we might as well use it…though I won’t tell you how much our card was worth or how much we ended up paying over the amount of the card. Not a place I would go back to in this lifetime…even if I won the lottery. There is no reason why meat should cost that much.

But that’s enough ranting about the overpriced restaurant. There was some highlights to eating there, besides being with my hubby alone! For one thing, there was the couple that walked in and ordered an appetizer off the menu that, I kid you not, cost $95! My mouth dropped open when I heard him tell the waiter he wanted that appetizer. And then there was the couple that was quizzing the poor waiter about how the restaurant makes there iced tea and how long it sits or something like that. Or the couple that every single time I looked over, they were making out like the freaking teenagers. Yes I am a people watcher and an eavesdropper and damn proud of it!

After dinner we decided to go see a movie that there would be NO kids at and no animation whatsoever. We, well I, decided on “It’s Complicated” with Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, and Meryl Streep. Dan and I walk into the theater and grab our seats. Dead center, just the way we like it! Dan then gets up to go get us drinks and popcorn. While he is gone, the theater starts filling up quickly and I started to notice a theme with the people walking in. They are ALL over the age of 60, walking with a cane, walker or even on those scooter things. It was a sold out show and Dan and I were the ONLY young ones there! Not that I have a problem with old people, but it was rather odd to me. Not to mention, Dan keeps muttering “what the hell movie did you buy us tickets for that only old people are going to?”. Ooops.

So my FAVORITE part starts; the previews! What’s the first preview we see?? Oh the one with my oh so favorite sparkly vampire in it! “Remember Me” looks like a really great movie and I cannot wait to see it. OK I’ll be honest. I can’t wait to drool over Edward (he’ll always be Edward to me) again!!! However, as awesome as it was to stare at my Edward again, it was even better to see the other movie in the previews with Tina Fey. She said something about whacking off and the old lady next to Dan…wait for it…had to explain what whacking off was to her husband. I almost peed my pants laughing. Little did I know, the funny broad would soon turn into one of “those” people you just want to throw popcorn at during the movie. She had to repeat everything that was going on in the movie. There was a scene where Meryl Streep is in her garden and that lady had to say “oh she’s in a garden”. No shit Sherlock, we can see she’s in a garden. I even shushed her a few times! She was that bad.

All in all, we had a super fun New Years Eve! I have to say, it was my first New Years Eve where I wasn’t totally wasted though. In the past 10 years that we have been together (1999 was our first NYE together), I was drunk 9 of the 10 years. It was nice not waking up with a raging hang over!

Happy 2010 everyone!
