My Baby Boy is 6!

6 years 9 months and 10 days ago, we found out that were going to have a baby.  I was scared.  I only had one babysitting experience and they were Satan’s children.  Trust me.  They were.  They threw a Tonka Truck at my head.  Little shits.  But then again, if you had met their parents…let’s just say, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.  So anyway, you can see why I was scared.  I knew nothing about babies.  Didn’t know how to really hold them, feed them…nothing.  But once I saw his first picture, I was in love.  How can you not be in love once you see the amazing life that is growing inside of you.  When I heard the words “you’re having a boy”, I was ecstatic.  I wanted a boy first.

If you noticed above, I said “6 years 9 months and 10 days ago”…my little stinker was so comfortable in his little warm apartment that he had to be evicted 10 days past his due date.  After of hours of labor, we ended up in a c-section.  But it was all worth it.  Little Zachary finally made his grand entrance.  Loud and proud.  Here is our first family picture.  Please disregard the drugged up lady on the left.  I don’t even remember taking that picture.

Zachary had us smiling and laughing from day one.  The littlest things would make him laugh.  Got a plastic bag?  Just shake it in front of him and that would make him cut up like nothing else.  He also loved to snuggle.  But never in our bed.  I was very strict about not bringing him to our  bed because I had read that once you did that, they always wanted to be in your bed (I made that mistake a few years later when his sister was born…she stayed in our bed till she was 2ish).  But snuggling on the couch was a favorite thing for us to do.  There is nothing like holding your child and feeling them wiggle around until they find that perfect spot to fall asleep on you (usually with their head fit perfectly in the crook of your neck)!

And now my little baby is not so little anymore and just turned 6!!!  I can hardly believe it!  Time sure does fly by.
