Cord Blood Banking – The Answers to YOUR Questions

How many of you know what cord blood banking is?  I will admit, when I started having kids 7 years ago I had heard about it, but I really didn’t know what it was…I just knew it was very expensive.  Now though…I would probably make the investment into storing my children’s cord blood.

So what exactly is cord blood?  Well cord blood is stored in the umbilical cord.  Once it is cut, the cord blood stem cells are harvested.  Those cells can be used to help cure many different types of blood diseases like leukemia, for example.  Cord blood banking is expensive, but Maze Cord Blood Laboratories is able to keep their costs down by not advertising in every single parenting magazine or giving away strollers and other incentives for banking the cord blood with them.  They also don’t charge an annual fee, so that more and more families are able to make the choice to bank their children’s cord blood.

Watch this short 2 minute video that Maze Cord Blood Laboratories put together.  If you have any further questions about cord blood banking, visit their website for contact information.

So what are your thoughts?

This is so interesting. When I had my kids we really wanted to do this but there weren't any hospitals near us that did it. I'm happy to hear it's become much more widespread since and that information like this is getting out there to others who may not know about it.
