I’ve posted quite a bit about my journey with Type 2 Diabetes.  I was diagnosed in February of this year…right before I turned the BIG 3-0.  Like I said before, I was not only pissed off at the world about my diagnosis, but I was also very scared.  You see, my problem was the fact that my body was OVER producing insulin because my body was not using it properly.  If I didn’t make changes in the way I lived, I would end up Type 1 Diabetic someday.  There was no might here…it would most definitely happen.  That scared the crap out of me.  So I immediately made changes.  Drastic changes.

Since February, I have lost 37.2 lbs.  I would be lying if I said it was easy.  Nothing about what I have done the past 5 months has been easy.  I completely changed the way I eat.  I no longer eat tons of candy…in fact, I rarely eat it anymore.  Gone are the days where I just grab something quick and on the go.  Fast food for me is a Jimmy Johns Unwhich.  Once in a blue moon I treat myself to Taco Bell.  You have to have treats…if you don’t, you’ll go insane.  So my days have been spent making sure I eat the correct amount of carbs per meal.  That correct amount being no more than 45 carbs for lunch and dinner and only 30 carbs for breakfast.

Below are two pictures of me…one being shortly before I found out I was diabetic and the other taken just this weekend:

I still have 62.8lbs left to lose.  But for once in my life, I truly feel like that is an obtainable goal.  Once I lose the 100lbs, I am getting a consult for Smart Lipo.  There are parts of my body that desperately need some professional sculpting that diet and exercise just won’t touch.  Believe me…I can’t WAIT until that day!

If you take just one thing from this post, then take this…no matter what life hands you, YOU can overcome it.  Just the other day I received the blood work results I had done a week ago.  Just 5 months of following the diabetic diet I am no longer considered diabetic.  Sure I have to still stick with everything or I will end up back in the same boat, but knowing that I have already made great strides in becoming healthier is amazing.  Not only that, but my cholesterol has gotten so much better that I no longer need my cholesterol medication!

You look amazing!!! Congrats!! My Hubby found out he was borderline diabetic last Dec., and since then he's cut out pop, sweets, and pretty much all the foods he loved. In return, he's lost 63 lbs and still going! I'm so proud of him, especially because he was a HUGE pop drinker, probably could drink a 12 pack in less than 2 days, now all he drinks is water and Propel!
Keep up the great work, you really look awesome!
