One of the things I hate about where I live is what the water tastes like.  Growing up we always had one of those things on the faucet to filter the water.  Without it, the water tasted slightly chlorinated.  So when my husband and I bought our first set of appliances, I knew it was a MUST to have a fridge that filtered the water.  While I like the convenience of the fridge filter, ironically it’s not that cold coming out of it and that drives me crazy.  So when I was asked if I wanted to review the ZeroWater Pitcher, I knew immediately that I did!  Here was my opportunity to get filter water that is ICE cold…without adding ice!

About the ZeroWater Pitcher

zerowaterYou’re probably thinking, what makes the ZeroWater Pitcher so special?  Well it’s a 5 stage filtering system that uses an ion exchange system as opposed to only a carbon system.  It also removes virtually ALL detectable dissolved solids…I don’t know about you, but “detectable dissolved solids” sounds absolutely disgusting to me!  One of the things I really liked about the ZeroWater Pitcher is the fact that it comes with a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) tester that will tell give you a number (000 up to 999) and the higher the number, the more contaminates in your water (and the worse it will taste).

The first thing I did was test my tap water.  The TDS reading for that was 191.  Definitely not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but wait until you see what the TDS rating my FILTERED fridge water got…116!  Here I was paying all this money to filter my water so it tasted better and it really wasn’t that much better than what was already coming out of the tap.  Next I filled up the pitcher.  It took about 20-30 minutes to completely filter and fill up the entire pitcher.  I decided that I wanted to taste the water first before testing it.  I didn’t want a TDS reading to influence how I thought the water tasted.  Let me tell you…it was the best darn water I had ever tasted.  And the TDS rating was 000!

Mine was 172 — however I am not sure how they determine that…since I have a well and don’t use the commonly available city water in my area…. oh well, I guess it would be close enough.
