The Tooth Fairy is Coming Tonight!

Ever since Zachary started losing teeth, Bella has been jealous and begging us to rip her teeth out too.  She could not get over the fact that her brother was getting a visit from the tooth fairy and she wasn’t.  From her 5th birthday to now (she’s 6), she has asked us multiple times a week to wiggle her teeth to see if they are loose.  They never were until just after her 6th birthday.  And then once she found out that they were loose, we started the ritual of daily wiggling.

Today she came out of school and told me that we had to get right home so she could eat an apple.   I looked at her a little confused…well confused until she opened her mouth and she had a Nanny McPhee tooth sticking out on the bottom.  It did NOT look like that in the morning when I saw her, but she had an apple for snack and that’s where the Nanny McPhee tooth came about.  I immediately got all queasy.  Teeth hanging by a thread, twisting around as you talk is completely disgusting to me.  I told her she would have to wait until after swim lessons and then she can have an apple.

After dinner Bella immediately ran for an apple and started biting into it as hard as she could with her loose tooth.  She winced a couple times and then came to me with those dreaded words, “mama let’s get the floss“.  NO!  Doesn’t she know how gross that will be???  But…I did it.  I wrapped floss around the tooth, she gripped the chair, closed her eyes and said “do it!  Pull it out!“.  So I did.  I pulled as hard as I could because I knew there was no turning back.  That tooth was already barely hanging on, if I didn’t do it right…it would be bad.

A look of horror went over her face, I yelled “don’t swallow the tooth” and then she began to smile.  She spit the tooth out, handed it to me and happily ran off to go stare at herself in the mirror.

Doesn’t she look happy?!?  So what is the Tooth Fairy bringing her tonight?  Well…$10.  That’s what the Tooth Fairy brought Zack for his first tooth he lost (but that was mainly because I felt bad that he had to have it ripped out by the dentist because of an issue he had).  Each and every tooth after this one gets $1.00.  I anticipate the second tooth will be out by the end of the month.  Soon she will have a big hole in her mouth because the other three front teeth are loose as well!

When did your kids lose their first tooth?

My son got his baby teeth late, but he lost his first tooth a month before he turned 5!
