Picture this. You’re driving down the road on your family vacation when you hear the words, “uh-oh”, a splash and lots of laughing. You’re not that far into your trip. What could those kids have done already? Turning around and looking means you’ll have to do something about it, but you can’t not do something either. As you’re turning around, you see a sign that reads, “next rest area 50 miles”. You just know that’s a bad omen! Family road trips don’t need to stress you out (too much) thanks to P&G Household products!!

Family Road Trips Made Easy

Family road trips don’t need to be stressful! I learned very quickly that every family road trip needed three things to be successful:

  1. Music – whether it’s your favorite CDs (or the kids KIDZ BOP CDs), an iPod filled with music or your car has satellite radio, you will want something other than the standard radio. Or you could end up listening to the only station coming in over AM radio…12 hours of non-stop polka music!
  2. Snacks – trust me…pack your car full of easy snacks for you and the kids. I like to pack the Kirkland brand granola bars. The kids love them and you end up with very little crumbs. Happy kids, happy mom. Total win-win!
  3. Your favorite P&G Household products – for our trips, I always make sure I have Bounty Advanced Paper Towels, Febreze Car Vent Clips, and Febreze Air Effects.

We have our first family road trip of the year coming up this summer just after the kids get out of school. Being a busy time of year for us with the end of the school year, family birthday parties, etc. I decided to make a quick run to Costco to stock up on everything I need to make our family road trip a success!

As I briefly mentioned above, each of the items in my car are integral items to have with us on our family road trips. The most important item, and one I will not leave home without are the Bounty Advanced paper towels. Not only do they have the strongest and most durable* sheets ever, but they also have longer select-a-size sheets too** and let’s face it, accidents happen in the car with kids! I’m sure you’ve driven down the road before and heard your kids laugh and yell, “uh-oh”!

A couple summer’s ago, my family and I took a road trip from Michigan to Arkansas. We decided to take the kids to Crater of Diamonds State Park…side-note…if you haven’t been there before, then go! It is so much fun and any diamonds you are lucky enough to dig up, you get to keep! On that trip, I found out very quickly that Febreze Car Vent Clips were needed. Spending hours a day outside in triple digit temperatures, while digging in the dirt…well, you guessed it, it was one smelly car ride back to the hotel! The nice thing about the Febreze Car Vent Clips is that you clip it on your vent and it eliminates odors for up to 4 months!

The car isn’t the only place you want to eliminate odors! Ever walk into a hotel and while it looks very clean, it has a funky smell that you just know will bug you the entire time you are there? Don’t suffer and essentially pay for those bad odors…simply add a can of Febreze Air Effects to your bag of goodies and truly eliminate those odors. At Costco right now, you can pick up a 4-pack of the Febreze Air Effects! Perfect for your family road trips and each of the bathrooms or kitchen in your home!

While you can’t possibly prepare for everything life has to throw at you during your family road trips, these wonderful P&G products do help! One last piece of advice…throw all of your favorite P&G Household products, along with the snacks, books and stuffed animals into a bag similar to the one above. It keeps it all contained and it fits nicely on the floor between the two kids in the car! Easy for you to reach!

What are your tips for making family road trips a success?
