This past weekend we went on our first road trip of the summer to Pennsylvania for a family wedding. You’ve seen me post in the past about various cars I’ve reviewed for a week. For this road trip, I was loaned a 2016 Kia Sorento SXL AWD. I was pretty stoked about getting this loaner. Not only do I absolutely LOVE every single Kia vehicle I’ve ever driven (especially the Kia Sorento), but the size of the vehicle was perfect for all the stuff we needed to take with us to this wedding! With the kids going too, it was a lot of stuff!

For this road trip, we had the following bags:
- Suitcase with my clothes and my husbands clothes

What makes the Kia Sorento a GREAT road trip car?
Besides having extremely comfortable seats and lots of room for all the stuff you need to take with you on the road trip, the Kia Sorento has the ability to allow backseat passengers to access the trunk without having to get out of the car (or unbuckling, for that matter).
We positioned the cooler right behind where that center piece goes down and our son was able to access the cooler and hand out waters whenever we needed one! I absolutely loved this about the Kia Sorento!
If you ask my husband what he thought the BEST feature of this car, and one that he wants to make sure his next car has, is the Smart Cruise Control. Like most people, when we are driving on long trips, we always set the cruise control. With Smart Cruise Control, as you approach the vehicle in front of you, it notices that and it will slow the car down appropriately to keep the correct distance between you and the car in front of you. At first it was a bit strange, but as we got used to that feature, it became one that we really liked a lot.
I don’t know about you, but I love going on road trips! I have a dream to visit all 50 states one of these days. I think it would be fun to map our road trips on this road trip map! This way we can see all the places we visited and all the places we still need to visit. There’s even enough room to write in our favorite part about that particular state! All I know is, if I am going to be driving all over the country on road trips, I want to do it comfortably and the Kia Sorento provides that space and comfort!
