How to Beat the Seasonal Slump and Stay Motivated in November

Ah, November. The month where our clocks turn back, pumpkin spice is back, and our cozy sweaters come out to play. Oh, and let’s not forget the part where our motivation sometimes takes a nap. If you’ve found yourself hitting snooze a little too often or choosing fuzzy socks over fitness, you’re not alone. That mid fall “seasonal slump” is real. The shorter days and cooler temps can definitely mess with our mood, energy, and focus. But…the good news is, you don’t have to ride it out on the couch with a bag of caramel popcorn (though…no judgement if you do sometimes). Here are a few of my favorite ways to shake off that November fog and stay motivated through the season.

How to Beat the Slump

It doesn’t take a lot to beat the slump in November. Follow some of the tips below. Have a tip I didn’t mention? Leave me a comment and let me know what it is! I would love to hear it!

Start Your Day with Light and Intention

With our daylight fading early, it’s even more important to create our own. Open the curtains, turn on the brightest light in the room, or try one of those “Happy Lights” to trick your brain into believing it’s still summer. Bonus tip…combine that morning light with a gratitude journal or the Gratitude Jar app. This will set a positive tone for your day!

Fuel Your Energy from the Inside Out

Fun fact…low motivation often starts in your gut (for real). When your digestion and energy are off, your drive takes a nosedive. Make sure you’re fueling up with protein, hydration, and your daily supplements. I never skip my Plexus Active (my Diet Coke replacement) for a natural energy boost and the Triplex combo to keep my gut happy and balanced. Your body can’t go full speed ahead when you inside systems are stuck in neutral!

Move…Even When You Don’t Feel Like It

You don’t need a full workout every single day to boost energy. A 10 minute walk, a quick stretch, or dancing in your kitchen (bonus points if the song is from the 90s) gets your blood flowing and your motivation back on track. Remember…movement creates momentum.

Stay Connected and Accountable

When it’s chilly and dark, we tend to hibernate, but isolation fuels that slump. Get your spouse or a friend to join you for a workout, start a group challenge, or just simply check in on each other. I love having a small circle of wellness friends to keep me going. We celebrate EVERYTHING…even water goals!

Final Thoughts

Beating the seasonal slump isn’t about perfection, it’s about intention. It’s about choosing a little bit of light, a little bit of movement, and a whole lot of self-kindness every single day. So, go ahead…grab your blanket and your to-do list. You can be both cozy and unstoppable this November. Who’s ready to beat the slump this November?
