I’m a Grandma!!

Yep.  You read that right.  I’m a grandma!  My son is the proud parent to a beautiful baby egg!

Sounds crazy, right?  I thought so at first.  When I saw other third graders at my son’s school carrying around an egg, I prayed my son’s teacher wouldn’t do that project.  You see…Zack, as much as I love him, is a scatterbrain and I figured this project would be more work for me than anything else.  But…I sent him off to school with a shoe box to house is new egg son.  What I saw AFTER school was not what I was expecting.  Zack walked up to me, hugging his shoe box, stopping every few steps to check on his egg.

I would be lying if I didn’t say it made my heart melt!  He was so excited to show me his new egg son he named Cole.  He put together a schedule for the baby on when he needs to eat his meals, nap, get bathed and go to bed for the night.  Every few minutes he asked me what time it was.  He wanted to  make sure he stayed on schedule.  It was cute.  Here’s a picture of Zack and egg son Cole:

While he was at school today, Zachary decorated his egg baby’s house.  He even took a piece of egg carton and attached it to the side of the shoe box to make a T.V.  After school he went to my mom’s house for awhile and the two of them redesigned his egg baby house.  They put bubble wrap down to make a nice, cushioned bed and they put bubble wrap along the walls to make a padded room so the egg was extra safe.  Check it out:

IMG_1150This has turned into a really great project.  Zack put his egg to bed (in the fridge) and he went to bed without any issues.  However, he’s been up twice now to check on his egg baby!  So cute!

Did your kids have to do this project (or something similar to it)?

Too cute! I’ve had to do the “Flour Baby” and Baby Think-It-Over. I remember classmates with a flour baby drop in the hallway trying to get things out of locker. LOL. It wasn’t pretty.

I love that they are doing this and he looks pretty proud!

We had to do this when I was in school. My son’s not old enough yet but I think I would be uber proud if he was tending to his egg like your son is.
