Finish Dishwashing Detergent Review and GIVEAWAY!!

One thing I hate to do is wash dishes. In our first house we did not have a dishwasher nor did we have room to add one in our kitchen. It was horrible having to hand wash the dishes each night. OK so it wasn’t horrible as much as it was just something I did not want to do when I was accustomed to putting the dishes in the dishwasher my whole life. I think the only thing worse than not having a dishwasher was not having a garbage disposal. It was gross scraping food into the garbage can.

Anyhoo…when Cassie contacted me and asked me if I would like to try out the new Finish Dishwashing Detergent (it’s the new name for Electrasol), I jumped at the opportunity. And I think she jumped at sending them out because I got them like two days later! And I liked what I saw immediately upon opening the package. Each Finish came in it’s own biodegradable package that disolves in the dishwasher. I especially liked that. I have a weird thing with having my hands dirty and I especially hate getting things like cleaners on my hands. So big thumbs up to Finish for changing the design! Here’s a little info on Finish:

Each Finish is premeasured and is a multi-chamber system containing:

  • A Powerball with Jet Dry to give our dishes amazing shine
  • Powermax bleach to remove stains
  • Powerful enzymes to remove burnt on stains
1 pack of 12 count Finish is only 4.99! Can’t beat the price!!

Cassie also sent over a bottle of Jet Dry which I have never tried this product before. You just put it in your rinse aide dispenser and it literally helps to dry the dishes so you don’t have to towel dry them when you pull them out. That is a HUGE thing for me. I barely get time to unload the dishwasher anymore with all the things we have going on with the kids, preschool events, walking the dog, etc. So anything to cut down on the time things take, the better in my book!
GIVEAWAY!!!
How would you like to win your very own pack of Finish and Jet Dry? I have been given the opportunity to give 5…yes FIVE of my readers the chance to win a set of their own Finish and Jet Dry. How cool is that?

I just started using those Finish dishwasher thingys.

I too hate cleaning stuff on my hands (and dishwater).

Those thingys are neat- no mess, seems to work.

    An A+ in my book!

BTW, your blog was mentioned on my blog, Bloggers Connect as a blog “found” and enjoyed by the reader. Check it out at:

According to a recent study, automatic dishwashers use in average 4-6 gallons of water per wash, whereas manual dishwashing uses 27 gallons in order to clean the same number of dishes. Hence automatic dishwashing saves up to 85% of water compared to hand-washing.

    I had no idea!

Automatic dishwashers use less water than washing dishes by hand. The only time I hand wash is when the item is too big for the dishwasher.

    * Load dishes according to the dishwasher manufacturer’s instructions to allow for proper water circulation.
    * Check and clean drains and filters regularly to ensure efficient operation.
    * Take a few minutes to check in the machine user’s guide for the most efficient program according to the size or type of load in your dishwasher.

I learned that setting your dishwasher to a lower temperature can save 84 kWh of electricity in one year. That like getting 3 months worth of dish washing for free! Very neat!

data for dish-washing machines, following standardised conditions (EN 50242). As result out of the investigation of 113 persons it is found that the average consumption to clean 12 place settings of dishes was measured to 103 litres of water, 2,5 kWh of energy and 79 minutes time.
