I was so happy to be given the opportunity to review (and giveaway…continue reading) 8 Simple Rules season 2. I never watched the first season religiously, however if I caught it on, I would sit and watch it. I always thought it was funny. I grew up watching Three’s Company with John Ritter and ALWAYS thought he was hilarious. So to find him starring in another comedy series, I knew it was going to be good.

For those of you that have not seen season one of 8 Simple Rules, Ritter’s character who was a sportswriter, began taking a more active role in raising his two teenage daughters and son when his wife decides to go back to work. As you can imagine, the job becomes very overwhelming to him which then prompts him to begin writing a column about parenting and the trials and tribulations that go along with it. Thus, the “8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter” come about. They are:

  1. Use your hands on my daughter and you will lose them after.
  2. You make her cry, I make you cry.
  3. Safe sex is a myth. Anything you try will be hazardous to your health.
  4. Bring her home late, there will be no second date.
  5. Only delivery men honk. Dates ring doorbell. Only once.
  6. No complaining while you wait for her. If you are bored, change my oil.
  7. If your pants hang off your hips, I will gladly secure them with my staple gun.
  8. Dates must be in a crowded public place. You want romance? Read a book.

Unfortunately, as you all know, John Ritter passed away during the filming of the second season. Like most things, the show must go on and that is exactly what happened with 8 Simple Rules. The show went from Ritter’s character dealing with taking a very active role in raising his children to the family dealing with their fathers death and moving on.

This is one of those series that I feel you can watch reruns of over and over again. And for that very reason, I am going to check out purchasing Season 1. It’s always nice to have something to watch that is funny and light hearted.

If you want to purchase 8 Simple Rules it retails for $29.99. However, ONE of my lucky readers have the opportunity to win the complete second season of 8 Simple Rules!

I met him when I was in elementary school – he did a presentation on acting before he made it big 🙂
