Have you ever hopped on the scale, hoping for a big drop, but the number stayed the same? It’s frustrating. Believe me. I know. But here’s what I’ve learned, the scale is one of the least reliable ways to measure real progress. Because, while the number might move slowly (or not at all for weeks), your body can be changing in powerful, life-giving ways behind the scenes. Since starting my Slim & Trim routine, I’ve shifted my focus to something that actually matters…non-scale victories. And honestly? These are the wins that are changing everything.

Inches Lost (Even when the scale doesn’t budge)
This one surprised me the most. There were weeks the scale barely moved, up a pound, down two, on repeat. But my clothes fit differently. Looser jeans. A softer waistline. Less that “everything feels tight” feeling. Inches don’t lie. They reflect fat loss, reduced inflammation, and real body recomposition. The scale can fluctuate for a million reasons. My husbands favorite? He didn’t take a big enough poo before getting on that week. But lets face it. How our clothe fit, thats real. And I don’t know about you, but I would rather not feel like a busted can of biscuits over the scale moving down.
My Health Markers are Improving
For me, the super health conscious one in the house, this is the kind of progress that matters most (even more than whether I look like a busted can of biscuits). Changes like this are long term. Back in January of this year, my doctor had the chat with me. The one where you sit there and you are trying to listen, but your mind is going a mile a minute. My cholesterol was elevated. My triglycerides were elevated. My A1C was hovering around that Type 2 Diabetic range. I was not happy. We may not be able to control the genetics we get from our parents, but in a lot of ways, we can try and control these numbers.
Somewhere around that time was when I started following the Slim & Trim protocol. I was drinking my slim and taking my balance, focusing on protein, moving my body, and not snacking between meals. This meant that every meal each day was intentional, in order to get the macros I needed for the day. Fast forward to April and I retested all of my numbers and guess what? EVERYTHING went down!! For someone who has struggled with insulin resistance and metabolic health for years, this was HUGE! These types of non-scale victories meant I was protecting my health and my future.
Energy that Feels Steady (Not Spiky)
Prior to January, I lived on Diet Coke. I think, and I don’t say this with pride, so don’t misconstrue, but I think I drank more Diet Coke in a day than I did water. Since starting the Slim & Trim, I rarely drink Diet Coke. Maybe one or two a week, at most. Mainly because I don’t want or need it. I prefer my Plexus Active, which does not have me riding the rollercoaster of caffeine highs and crashes. But most days, I don’t drink any caffeine. Who am I? I’ll tell you. I am a person that is waking up with energy, getting through my day without dragging, and not hitting that “I need a nap immediately’ wall in the afternoon. It’s not jittery energy, it’s steady, natural, and sustainable.
No Snacking…Without White Knuckling It
I think this may be one of my biggest shifts and non-scale victories. Food noise used to be constant for me. I didn’t think it was, until it completely disappeared. There is literally NO FOOD NOISE. Snacking felt automatic. If I was heading out for a day of errands, I almost always threw a snack or two in my purse…just in case I needed it (not wanted it…needed). Now? I eat my meals and feel satisfied. That little voice in your brain that lets you know you’re full…I hear it and I stop. I’m not obsessing about my next meal and I am not grazing all day. That’s what a balanced blood sugar can do for you. So, as a result, I have a much better relationship with food. Food doesn’t feel chaotic anymore. Cravings…I don’t have any! I just feel balanced and at peace.
Less Bloating…More Comfort
I used to wake up feeling bloated…like I had already eaten a full meal before even starting my day. It was terrible. Now I wake up most days feeling completely normal. Comfortable. Light. This change started a year ago when I started the Gut Health System (formally named Triplex). Now, adding the Slim & Trim and I not only have the less bloat, but I feel much more comfortable in my own skin. If you’ve dealt with constant bloat, you know how big of a difference that makes in your day.
Progress You Feel (Even When You don’t see it) aka Non-Scale Victories
Let this be a reminder to you:
You can be making incredible progress, even if the scale hasn’t caught up yet. Because real transformation shows up in your energy, confidence, digestion, habits, and even your blood work. Not just a number on the scale. And, I can’t be the only one that wonders if scales are even accurate. I can weigh one thing at my house and weigh even less at the doctors…with all my clothes on. Now you know I’m not weighing myself at home with my clothes on! But seriously though, if you have been relying on the scale as your only measure of success…STOP! Get a tape measure (I love this one) and start measuring your inches. I guarantee you, you’ve probably lost a few inches. Celebrate the non-scale victories! That’s where the real magic is!
