Travel Bucket List Free Printable

One of the things my husband and I like to do is talk about our future. Don’t most married couples do that? For example, one thing we’ve always said is when my husband retires, we are going to sell our house, get an RV and travel the United States. Right now, we don’t travel a lot due to the kids crazy sports schedules, but believe me, I have a travel bucket list ready! Do you?

Travel Bucket List

If someone were to ask you what your dream vacation was, what would you say? For me, my dream vacation is not some exotic, foreign country. While it would be nice, I really, really want to see all 50 states. I want to see all the hot spots; all the must see places in my own country. That’s not to say I wouldn’t be thrilled with a vacation to Iceland or something!

The nice thing about this FREE Travel Bucket List printable is that you and your husband can sit down and fill it out together. If you really wanted to make it fun, each of you fill out your own sheet, have your kids fill one out and compare lists. Do you have similar tastes in vacations? I know my list will be filled with places in the United States, whereas my husbands would be filled with countries all over the world. As for the kids, I am sure their’s would  be filled all the locations their YouTubers have their videos!

My Favorite Vacation

Like I’ve said before, I prefer to travel within the United States. I want to see all of this country we live in. One of my favorite vacations was when my husband and I took our kids to Arkansas to visit Crater of Diamond State Park. It was the one vacation that, as we were driving home, the kids asked if we could go back again the following year. If you haven’t been there…GO! It’s a 37 acre park where you can dig for diamonds! Whatever you find, you can keep! The kids (and us parents too) had a blast!

Please leave me a comment telling me about YOUR favorite vacation ever! I’d love to see where you all have gone and maybe add another place or two to my list!

The Cutest Halloween Costumes for Babies

When I was pregnant with my daughter and I found out that her due date was in October, I was focused on finding the cutest Halloween costumes for babies. She was only a little over two weeks old on her first Halloween. I ended up finding a super cute pea pod costume for her to wear. While I am most definitely done having kids, I still love looking at all the adorable baby stuff. Especially since I have a new nephew to buy all the baby things for!

I wish I had a picture of Bella in her little pea pod costume. Unfortunately, I got a virus on my computer back then that literally destroyed every picture I had stored. I know…I was (and still am) totally devastated by that. So let this be a lesson to you all…back up those pictures! I have my pictures backed up and I actually want to sit down and start ordering prints for the kids and put together photo boxes for each of them.

Gender Neutral Halloween Costumes for Babies

The best thing about buying Halloween costumes for babies is that YOU get to choose what they wear. You won’t have any kickback and whatever you dress them in, is what they go as for that year. My son went as a monkey for his first Halloween. It was super cute! If they are really little, like my daughter was, for their first Halloween, the bunting style costumes are perfect!

Cute Halloween Costumes for Baby Girls

If I knew then what I know now, I would have totally gone all out on the girly costume for my daughters first Halloween costume! Now, at almost 12 years old, she cannot stand anything girly. My favorite costume is the little piggy costume. How adorable is that?!? No matter what you pick you, these Halloween costumes for baby girls are adorable!

Halloween Costumes for Baby Boys

When I had my son over 14 years ago, I felt like they did not have very good choices in clothes or costumes for baby boys. The boys section was so tiny compared to what they offer now. I mean, look at these adorable costumes! The little baby Elvis costume is so cute!

5 Fascinating Ways Temperature Affects Us

Besides making us feel too hot or too cold, the temperature has several other unusual impacts on our bodies. If you’ve ever wondered how extreme heat and cold can affect us, read on to learn more about some fascinating things that can happen to our minds and bodies.

Heat Pulls Water From Our Bloodstream

When the sun peaks and the temperature begins to sizzle, our bodies go to work trying to cool us down. When our internal temperatures start to get too high, our heart rates increase and vessels expand to bring extra blood to the outer layer of the skin to release heat. If that doesn’t work, our body’s sweat glads then go to work. Our sweat glands actually draw water directly from our bloodstream to make sweat. The sweat then comes out of our pores to release heat and evaporate to cool us down.

Temperatures Affect Our Mood

If you’ve ever thought people seem angrier when the temperatures go up, it’s not in your head. Researchers have discovered a link between higher temperatures and human aggression. In on study, intergroup conflicts increased by 14 percent when the temperatures went up. Interestingly, researchers also found that when it rained more than expected, people seemed to get more aggressive. Another study found that women reported decreased life satisfaction on days with higher temperatures and more rain.

Low Temperatures Help the Body Sleep

Not only can temperatures affect us when we’re awake, they also play a role in how well we sleep. When we get ready to go to sleep, our brains automatically decrease our body temperatures. We can help our bodies initiate sleep by keeping our bedroom temperature between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit. Lower temperatures can help us fall asleep faster and get better sleep.

Humidity Also Plays a Key Role

While temperatures obviously affect us in several ways, humidity levels also play a key role in everything from our comfort to our health. When humidity levels are too high, our bodies have to work even harder to cool us down. However, our bodies don’t like it when humidity levels are too low either. Low humidity can severely impact our skin and respiratory systems, causing chapped lips, dry nasal passages, a sore throat, and dry and itchy skin. While you have no control over humidity levels outside, a ventilator in your home’s HVAC system can help moderate indoor humidity levels.

Extreme Heat Causes Hallucinations

It turns out the idea that desert travelers might hallucinate an oasis isn’t that far-fetched after all. In 2014, tennis professional Frank Dancevic was playing in the Australian Open in Melbourne during record heat. He says during the first set he got dizzy and started seeing Snoopy on the court before passing out. Losing too much body fluid from sweating can cause a temperature drop in blood flow to the brain. This can lead to confusion, dizziness, and loss of consciousness.

From changing our mood to impacting our comfort, temperature and humidity play a big role in how our minds and our bodies function.

Planning for Knee Surgery

I have been having knee pain for so many years. The first incident was when I was 12 years old. Happened during a middle school swim meet. Ever since then, it’s been downhill. 10 years ago, I dislocated my kneecap. It was as horrific as it sounds. Over the years, since that point, I’ve had more issue than I can count. The most recent being a month ago. That incident was the most serious and now I am schedule for knee surgery in October.

Why Knee Surgery?

A year ago, I went in and received a series of three gel injections in my knee. It really helped a lot. So much so, I went back again this summer to get three more gel injections. Since I have issues with my cartilage, the gel simulates the cartilage. The only problem…you have to keep repeating it. If it pushes surgery off, I was more than willing to do it.

However, a month or so ago, I stepped into the garage and I felt the lower half of my leg go one direction and the upper half go the other. It was horrible. I went down and was in intense pain. My knee swelled almost instantly. After meeting with my doctor and getting another MRI, it was recommended that I speak with the surgeon. So I did.

What Surgery will I Be Having?

I really should have titled this post, “Planning for Knee Surgeries”. As in, I will be having two surgeries…possibly. Right now the plan is that on October 10th, I will be going in for a scope. The doctor will clean up the underside of my kneecap and take a biopsy of the cartilage. This procedure is called the MACI procedure. After surgery I will do rehab for three months while the biopsy is sent to a lab to have my cartilage regrow on a collagen pad. Neat, huh?!?

After doing rehab for three months, I will go back in and have surgery to have my new cartilage put where it needs to go in my knee. During that surgery, the surgeon will take donor tendons and reconstruct my tendons and stabilize my knee better. I also have a tilt to my kneecap that is causing me so much pain, so he will be taking care of that too.

Now I said that I would “possibly” be having two surgeries. Possibly because if once the surgeon is in there cleaning up my kneecap and he sees that I am not a candidate for the MACI procedure, he will finish cleaning up the underside of my kneecap and then use the donor tendons to reconstruct my tendons.

How I’m Planning for Knee Surgery

I’m not lying when I say I am beyond nervous for surgery. However, I know this is really my last option. I have exhausted every other non-surgical option. And, to be completely honest, I can’t take the pain and fear of instability anymore. As for planning, I really don’t know what to expect. So far I have begun deep cleaning my house. It’s like I’m in nesting mode, kind of like when you are about to go into labor! Today I steam cleaned my entire first floor! Besides cleaning, I am thinking about the kids schedules, making plans to get them where they need to be, as well as thinking about what clothing I need. If I was having surgery in the summer, it would be super easy to just wear shorts. The other thing I told my husband we needed to get is one of those raised toilet seatsknee surgery because I have no clue how I will go to the bathroom and keep my leg straight.

If you had knee surgery and have any tips for me, I would greatly appreciate them!
